Missing In Action …

May 9, 2010 § Leave a comment

Oh dear … I have been horrid! I havent been doing any updates for almost a decade … (or at least it feels like that)

So I in the time I have been away, I’ve had the pleasure of skilling up … I signed up for a beginner’s spinning class, at Hand Weavers & Spinners Guild of NSW.  And I just have to say it was fabulous!

My first couple of tries :)

Learning to spin has added another dimension to my fibre journey. I’m all about colour and I absolutely drool over handpainted rovings. I was addicted to merino rovings, the finer the fibre the better by my book :). But now I’m branching out and trying to spin with longwools.

So far I have had the pleasure of spinning with Merino Cross Breds, English Leicester,  Blueface Leicester, Wensleydale, Masham, Shetland, Mohair, Gotland, Cormo. I have also spun, Alpaca (of the Huacaya variety, I have yet to spin up some Suri I have stashed away), Angora and Camel.

I’m finding it more interesting to learn how to spin alot of different fibres, just so I can figure out what works for me :)
